Knowledge test fees

You pay a fee every time you take the knowledge test. If you do not pass and take it again, you pay again.

The fee has two parts: a government fee set by the Government of Alberta, and a service charge kept by the registry agent. The government's Registry Agent Product Catalogue lists the government fee and the maximum service charge for knowledge tests; each registry agent sets its own charge up to that maximum.

After you pass the knowledge test and the vision test, buying the Class 7 learner's licence card is a separate purchase. The same catalogue lists the government fee and the maximum service charge for operator licences.

If you take the audio version of the test with headphones, some registry offices may charge a fee for disposable headphones.
